July 2024 — Sam (Seat 4) Tell the viewers a bit about yourself and your draft style I mostly play modern! I’m a constructed player at heart, so drafting moddy is the deep end of the pool for me. I’m hopeful that my constructed experience will translate more readily to the rotisserie draft format. I love playing aggro—I love to curve out 1-2-3 and attack my way to victory. How many Moddy Rotisserie drafts have you participated in? 13 [Sam is lying, this is her first draft. -ed] Do you like or dislike the seat you were assigned? Why? I was hoping to get a seat on one of the ends; I suspect that being able to double-pick cards would be a boon. With that said, I’m hopeful that my early position will favor me in the land race, and allow me to snag some early cards I wouldn’t be able to get in a late seat! What’s your favorite card in Moddy? Guardian of New Benalia. I love 2 drops that make themselves indestructible and I love lategame Scry. What’s your least favorite card in Moddy? Shorikai, Genesis Engine 🙁 If my first few plays get deleted, it’s very difficult to overcome the stream of 1/1s AND drawn cards, and it can’t be destroyed by creature removal. It’s difficult to overcome for the aggro decks I favor. What is your strategy going into the draft? What’s your backup plan if your primary strategy is unavailable? UW Tempo! I plan to drop a flier or indestructible creature on turns or 2 and then protect them with counterspells. My backup plan is UB Reanimator, since I plan to take counterspells early. What card(s) do you think you can get late for your strategies? There are a large number of 1 drop blue fliers that literally do not get drafted in rotisseries, like Sleep-Cursed Faerie and Cloudfin Raptor. Those are free picks for me. I think there are a few undervalued white aggro cards I can snap up, too—Siege Veteran is pretty good, and Wedding Announcement is strikingly underdrafted.
