June 2024 — BibliovoreOrc (Seat 6) Tell the viewers a bit about yourself and your draft style Generally pretty flexible. I tend to prefer proactive decks and disruptive decks over straight combo or control or value, and I think my card evaluations are fairly different from the consensus. How many Moddy Rotisserie drafts have you participated in? About 6. Do you like or dislike the seat you were assigned? Why? I hate being in the middle of the order. I would much rather be closer to the front or the wheel, and be able to get picks close together. What’s your favorite card in Moddy? It will never not be Hellrider. What’s your least favorite card in Moddy? The One Ring and Palantir. Genuinely miserable cards to play against. Ridiculous on power level, they go into any deck, deeply annoying to interact with, and they slow down the game, to boot. Also, honorable mention to Gisa, which is another card that is miserable to interact with but wins the game if you don’t/can’t. What is your strategy going into the draft? What’s your backup plan if your primary strategy is unavailable? Broadly speaking, I think red and black are the most powerful colors in the cube by a fairly wide margin. I think folks are starting to catch on to black, because of how busted cards like Grief and Archon are, but I think folks still undervalue red in anything other than a pure aggro or combo strategy, when in fact red now also has a lot of cards that can just gain value at any stage of the game. Blue, conversely, I think is generally overvalued in recent drafts, because of vestigial memory about it being the strongest color. So my goal, if possible, is to draft either Rakdos or Jund, depending on what falls to me. I played a Rakdos cheats deck recently in table that felt extremely powerful, and that could win either on a straight aggro plan or by ramping/reanimating into cards like Archon. Also, using Kiki effects just to copy ETB/LTB creatures is really powerful. I would similarly be interested in doing something similar in Jund, with access to cards like Meren and Grist to get extra value out of the ETB/LTB effects. But if I’m having to fight for those cards, or if another color/lane is conspicuously open, I’ll be happy just to shift into what’s available. What card(s) do you think you can get late for your strategies? Red value engines like Conspiracy Theorist. Multicolor value cards like K Command and Chaos Defiler. Kiki effects.
